Ghana Premier League

The Ghana Women’s Premier League (WPL) is the top division league for women’s football in Ghana. It was first launched in 2012. Up to 2006 only some regional areas had active women’s football leagues. In 2006, a zonal league was created, that played out a national champion for the first time. Ghana was divided into two zones that played a league stage. The league is played in two divisions, after the league stage, both division winners meet in a championship final to declare the Champions for the season.

The President Cup Competition

The President’s Cup is an annual one-off game, featuring two selected clubs at the end of the season. The cup is called the GHALCA President’s Cup because it is organized by Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) and played in honour of the sitting President of Ghana. The game was also known as the Republic Day Celebrations Cup and is usually played in July of each year to mark Ghana’s Republic Day celebrations which falls on the 1 July. 
The current holders are Accra Hearts of Oak, who defeated rivals Asante Kotoko 1–0 in the 2023 match.
Asante Kotoko holds the record for most wins with eight titles.

The GHALCA Top 4 Competition

The GHALCA Top 4 Competition is a football tournament in Ghana featuring the top four teams from the Ghana Premier League. For 2024, the confirmed participating teams are FC Samartex (the champions), Accra Lions, and Berekum Chelsea. The competition is set to take place in Cape Coast and Sunyani, with significant financial backing amounting to 1.4 billion cedis.The GHALCA Top 4 Competition is typically structured as a knockout tournament involving the top four teams from the previous season of the Ghana Premier League.
