Kwasi Poku, the Canadian-born Ghanaian striker for Forge FC, has been named to the Canadian Premier League’s Gatorade Team of the Week for Week 16.

Poku played a pivotal role in Forge FC’s dominant 3-0 victory over Halifax Wanderers FC on July 27. The striker scored a brace, his third in the past seven matches, bringing his goal tally to eight and securing a tie for the league’s Golden Boot.

Poku opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a left-footed shot from close range, assisted by David Choinière. He struck again in the 28th minute, capitalizing on a set piece to double Forge FC’s lead. Ghanaian attacker Nana Ampomah added to the tally in the 69th minute with a stunning right-footed shot from outside the box, assisted by Choinière following a fast break.

The win extends Forge FC’s head-to-head record against HFX Wanderers to nine wins, four losses, and nine draws. Poku has been a formidable force this season, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in 15 games. Meanwhile, Ampomah, with five games under his belt, has scored once and assisted one goal.
