Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko will pocket 50,000 Ghana cedis each for accepting to play this year’s President Cup.

The President Cup played in honour of the sitting Ghanaian president every year, will come off on March 4, 2022, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), organisers of the match, announced on Tuesday that both teams will share 100,000 Ghana cedis and 25% each of gate proceeds.

“Football is all about Business and at the same time to bring us together. So, the two clubs will take an appearance fee of 50,000 cedis each and then the gate proceeds will be shared,” GHALCA boss Kudjoe Finaoo told Akoma FM.

“Ghalca as an Organizers will take 50% and the two clubs will share will take 25% each of the remaining 50%. There will be a trophy and other medals.”

President Nana Akufo-Addo will grace the occasion. He will perform ceremonial kick off and decorate players with medals after the match.

Kotoko were crowned champions the last time both sides met in the President's Cup in 2019.

Kofi Kordzi scored first for the Phobians but a Mohammed Alhassan own goal and a Naby Laye Keita effort secured a comeback win for the Porcupine Warriors at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Kotoko have won the trophy on six occasions, two more than Hearts of Oak.
